John Barbella is Senior Vice President for The Bancorp Bank Payment Solutions Group. Based in Minneapolis, he is a veteran in the financial industry with more than two decades of experience in the payments industry. In his role with The Bancorp Bank, Barbella is responsible for developing and driving the prepaid card business strategy for the organization with specific emphasis on the development of emerging markets.  

With a general charge of converting paper payments to cards, Barbella focuses on those markets with heavy concentration of paper payments. In particular, he is pursuing the insurance industry and the conversion of roughly one billion payments to an electronic method.

Prior to joining The Bancorp Bank, Barbella served in a variety of leadership positions in sales, marketing and business development with Deluxe Corporation.

Barbella holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate and a master’s degree in management from Penn State University.
